Pupils from two Cheshire schools and a North Wales school have taken part in a Make-It challenge organised by The Manufacturing Institute and URENCO UK.

The students from Helsby, Neston and the Alun schools were tasked with designing, manufacturing and then transporting a cylinder.

The groups then had to pitch their ideas to a panel of industry dragons. After a challenging day the team from Helsby winning team was Helsby High school.

A member of the Dragons Caroline Welch HR business partner at URENCO UK said: “I was really impressed with the high level of creativity from Year 9 school children and their ability to work as a cohesive team to present their business case to a panel of Dragons, who were members of the lead team.

“The Make-It event was a powerful way of allowing the students to identify and try out business roles that might fit their own skills and preferences.”
