A SUCCESSFUL landlady who focuses on letting homes with ‘a woman’s touch’ has been shortlisted for a top accolade.

Tracey Glendinning, founder of Tracey Rentals, has been nominated for the National Landlords Association’s property woman of the year title.

Tracey, who rents out a total of nine properties – including six in Chester – to young professionals and students, said she was delighted to be put forward.

She said: “My husband Stuart put me forward for the nomination and I am now in the final three at regional level after judges looked through a shortlist of 38. I am very pleased.”

The houses are given plenty of care, Tracey said, as they are fully renovated, secured with the latest fittings, safety equipment and decor.

Tracey explained: “Young professionals who can’t afford a mortgage want to be able to come home from work into somewhere which is inviting and homely.

“I am a landlady that cares – my tenants’ contacts are all in my phone and I will help them with a text message or come round. I have heard horror stories from some of them from when they lived in other properties where their landlords didn’t care about the standard of living.

“When I sort a home I want it to be somewhere I would be happy my four children could live in.”

The business is running in the family as in addition to Tracey’s husband Stuart handling the promotion of Tracey Rentals, their eldest son Nicholas is helping renovate the properties.

“I never thought I would be in a position where my son would be working for me,” added Tracey.

The award finals will take place on October 31 in a ceremony in the Chesford Grange Hotel, Warwickshire.
