TIVERTON District Garden Club held its autumn show on Saturday.

Although numbers were down on last year, the club still had 147 high-quality entries from 22 competitors in 63 open classes.

Flowers, shrubs, pot plants, junior section and cookery were especially well supported, which made for a colourful display in the village hall.

Following the presentations to the winners by Sam Beattie – step-grandson of former club president Bill Povall who died at the age of 92 in June – a lively auction of the produce was conducted by Jeff Spooner along with a raffle, both of which raised funds for the club.

Club meetings are held at Tiverton Village Hall on the first Tuesday of each month at 8pm. To join contact the secretary Joyce on 01829 733465.
