A NEW folk opera created by three Chester people is due to be unveiled this weekend.

Mike Penney, Ian Milnes and Pam Moyle have composed Now Is The Time, directed by Mike Fair, to be played at The Wesley Methodist Church Hall in St John Street, Chester, tomorrow (Saturday) at 7.30pm.

The show will be performed by the Chester Folk Opera Group, a small company of amateur singers, actors, poets, musicians and friends.

The tale is set in 10th century Britain and the present day. It’s a story about Vikings and Celts and includes love, war, betrayal, loss of faith, sin and redemption.

The heroine is a young Celtic girl (Catriona) from the 10th century. She has been in limbo for 1,000 years and cannot find peace until she solves a mystery from her own life/times.

She connects, spiritually, with a modern-day woman and together they set out to unravel this mystery.

Admission is £5, concessions £4. Pay at the door or buy tickets in advance on 01244 377170.
