DOCTOR Who has made Frodsham the new centre of the universe.
Thanks to a talented family, a replica of the Timelord’s Tardis has been permanently stationed at The Rock Shop at Lady Heyes Craft Centre for the last two years.
The Tardis has been meticulously constructed with recycled materials and has sparked a worldwide fascination with people dropping in from America and Europe.
The Tardis, which is 11ft by 16ft, stays true to the BBC’s famous police box in that appears larger inside than out.
Stephen Kelleher described building the life sized Tardis as a “labour of love”.
“Inside, the Tardis looks a lot larger thanks to the help of mirrors. Children are fascinated by it. They love the fact that the Tardis makes original sounds. One little boy last week thought that it was taking off.”
Mr Kelleher has made a Sylvester McCoy umbrella, a Tom Baker scarf, K9 and a Cyberman to go with the Tardis and hinted that Santa Claus may drop in during Christmas to entice festive visitors to the shop.
Mr Kelleher has used the Tardis donation box to raise a staggering £4,600 towards Christies Hospital in Manchester in memory of his brother-in-law, Stephen Kinsella, who died of cancer.
