More than 4,500 job hunters have applied for the 300 jobs on offer at the new Asda Chester superstore – which opens its doors to the public on November 10.
The store, which will be located on the Greyhound Retail Park, has been searching for locals to create a team of colleagues covering roles such as shopfloor staff to bakers and even security guards.
Building work is well underway on the 40,000 sq ft superstore spanning two floors, which will include the latest fresh food, mobile shopping choices, award-winning Asda pizzas and bakery, as well as festive family feasts in time for Christmas.
Shaun Leech, store manager at Asda Chester, said: “We would like to thank everyone who has shown an interest in the store.
“We’re looking forward to creating 300 jobs within the community and offering customers great choice and value under one roof.
“We want to create an experienced team of colleagues, who will provide world class service to our customers and also play their part in the local community, here in Chester.”
The new superstore will feature a ‘click and collect’ pick-up point for online shoppers with busy lives.
People will be able to buy on the web and collect groceries at their convenience.
Home shopping deliveries straight to customers’ doors will also be available.
The store is located on the former Cineworld site and will also feature an opticians, as well as the latest fashions from George and homeware plus a café.
Customers will benefit from Asda’s Price Guarantee (APG) which guarantees Asda will be 10% cheaper than rivals or it will refund the difference.
Asda’s upmarket revival Waitrose opens in Boughton on November 6 with construction workers busy around the clock.
