One lucky customer bagged more than their weekly shop at the Tesco Extra store in Broughton.

David Mills, from Penyffordd, took home the top prize of £5,200 in Tesco gift cards in the store’s Win Shopping for a Year competition in conjunction with Chester’s Dee 106.3FM.

Ten finalists were invited to the store for the live final hosted by the local radio station’s presenter Dave Philips.

Each finalist had to choose a key and attempt to unlock a box.

David Mills picked the winning key and unlocked the box, which revealed his prize.

David was absolutely thrilled with his win, he said: “Wow, I still can’t believe it; I am overjoyed to have won such a great prize. I would like to thank Tesco for their generosity and to Chester’s Dee 106.3 for hosting the competition and looking after us on the day. I am a regular shopper here at Tesco Broughton and I look forward to spending the winnings over the coming year.”

None of the finalists walked away emptied handed as they all received a £100 Tesco gift card, to spend in the store.

Store manager Moyra Postlewhite said: “The event was a great success and created a fantastic atmosphere in store. It was lovely to see one of our customers win such an incredible prize. I would like to thank everyone for taking part.”
