A BUNCH of plucky Widnes bikers are to ride from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise funds for Halton Haven Hospice.
The four undertaking the 845-mile trip this July are Barrie Shuker, Neil McLean, Dave Wycherley and Andy Wainwright, all from Widnes Taxis.
Barrie said: 'It all began when I called round at my mate Grippa's (Dave Wycherley) house for a brew. Out of the blue he said he wanted to do something he could look back on and say 'I did that, something for charity or a good cause'.'
The group has named their mammoth task the Silver Saddle Challenge, as they are raising money for the Haven in its silver jubilee year.
Widnes Taxis have already raised more than £345 after a staff night out.
