A Neighbourhood Plan for Tarporley has been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) for consultation.

The plan, which has been prepared by the village parish council with help from local residents, aims to give local people their chance to have a say about what happens in their area and provide a vision for its future, to improve it for future generations.

The plan sets out a number of key objectives for each area and planning policies to be used to help determine planning applications in Tarporley and it will help to inform how development takes place as well as influence the type, quality and location of it.

Cllr Brian Clarke, CWaC’s cabinet member for economic development and infrastructure said: “The neighbourhood plan is based on extensive research and has already been influenced by significant engagement with the local community.

“It has now been submitted to ourselves and we will gather additional comments from local people during the publicity stage. This will give another opportunity for residents, businesses and groups to submit their comments, which will then be passed on to an independent examiner who will review the documents.”

Comments can be made on the Tarporley plan during a six week publicity period which runs between October 19 and November 30, after which the neighbourhood plan will each go before an independent examiner, who will check whether the plans meet a number of statutory tests and whether they fit with national planning policy.

The examiner will also review all comments submitted at publication stage. If the examiner finds that the plans meet the required tests, the neighbourhood plans can then proceed to a referendum.

The plan and supporting documents are available to view on the neighbourhood planning web page of the Cheshire West and Chester Council website at www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/neighbourhoodplanning

The plans can also be viewed on computer screens in the One Stop Shop areas at The Forum, Chester and Wyvern House, Winsford between 8.30am and 4.45pm Monday to Friday.

Paper copies of the plan can be viewed at the council offices, Wyvern House, Winsford, Tarporley Library, Tarporley Health Centre and the Old Fire Station Chocolate Shop.
