WITH the contract to build the next Astra in the bag, Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port plant should look further into the future with an eye on producing the 'super-green machines' of the next g eneration.
That's the view of borough MP Andrew Miller.
He said: 'Now the medium-term future of the plant has been secured we need to look at the long-term future and I would like to see it win a place at the leading edge of producing the next generation of cars which will run on the fuels of the future, such as hydrogen and electricity.
'These are the kind of cars that our grandchildren will drive.
'This is a genuine opportunity to see a major local employer getting involved in meeting that challenge.'
