STAFF at The Village Bistro in Hoole raised more than £2,500 for Clatterbridge Hospital.

Proprietor Jason Shaw hosted a charity eight-course dinner sponsored by Scatchards (sparkling wine), The Lemon Tree (soup), Bricklands (fish), Cheshire Farm Ice Cream (lemon sorbet), Noel Baker British Meats (pork), Mr Fruity (vegetable and potato accompaniments), Pendrills (cheese course), P & A Davies (cheesecake) and Deli-Vert (coffee and petit fours).

Jason and his staff worked for free throughout the night.

He said: “In times of recession it is wonderful to find people can still give generously for a worthwhile cause.”
