A broken-down lorry on the M6 southbound between junctions 21 and 20 has caused severe disruption for motorists this morning (Thursday, December 17).
Two lanes were closed due to the incident, which occurred at around 7am, but have now been reopened.
Traffic backed up all the way to junction 24.
A collision earlier this morning between the exit and entry slip roads on the southbound carriageway at junction 20A caused delays.
North West Motorway Police warned motorists to allow extra time for their journeys or to consider alternative routes.
