A big-hearted little girl from Saltney has made it her mission to fundraise in memory of her beloved grandad.

Nine-year-old Eloise Harris is hoping to raise £150 for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, after her grandfather passed away at the age of 60 last year having fought a short battle with cancer.

The Wood Memorial Primary School pupil’s mum, Victoria Harris, said she approached her with the idea of undertaking some challenges for charity and together they settled on a sponsored walk and a cake sale.

Eloise said: “I’m doing the cake sale and walk to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, help people who are poorly and encourage others to fundraise for charity.

“I want people to remember my grandad and I am doing this fundraising in memory of him.”

She will walk from Saltney to Chester and around the City Walls, which is a distance of around four and a half miles, on August 24 and will be selling her homemade cakes at Saltney Library on Wednesday (August 12).

Victoria added: “I’m very proud of Eloise, she has a heart of gold.

“John also lived in Saltney and was very well-known, and is missed so much.”
