One of Britain’s best loved poets will be guest speaker at this year’s Cheshire Prize for Literature.

Roger McGough will read extracts from his poems and take questions from the audience at the University of Chester, which will be held on Thursday, November 28.

This year’s �2,000 prize, which will be awarded for poetry, will be announced on the night and Roger will read the winning entry to the audience.

Closing date for submission is September 1 and the competition, sponsored by Bank of America, is open to anyone with connections to the county, such as through work or study.

The event, held in the Molloy Auditorium at the University of Chester’s Parkgate Road campus, starts at 7pm.
