A BUSINESSMAN was subjected to a terrifying ordeal by a raider armed with a stun gun on Monday.
The drama unfolded when the man arrived at Plumley Post Office just before 1pm to deposit a quantity of cash he was carrying in a bag.
As he walked into the post office he was confronted by a man armed with a stun gun who pushed him to the floor and tried to wrestle the bag of cash from him.
During the scuffle the stun gun went off, causing a cut to the businessman's right ear.
Despite the raider's efforts the victim bravely refused to give up the money and the attacker ran out of the post office and made off in a white Ford Transit Connect van, later found abandoned at the rear of The Smoker Inn on the A556.
Police enquiries revealed it had been stolen from an address in Stretford area of Manchester.
The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment. A police spokesman said he was shocked by the incident but not seriously hurt.
The offender is described as being in his early 20s and was wearing dark coloured trousers, woollen hat, and a light coat. He is also described as having pale or gaunt features.
