A VILLAGE school have held a street party to celebrate the forthcoming royal wedding.
Excited pupils decorated the outside of Saighton Church of England Primary School with bunting and balloons before tucking in to a party lunch to mark the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Headteacher Mavis Sellers said: “As we are a village school we used the front playground – the nearest we could get to the street!
“The front of the school was well and truly decked out –much to the amazement of motorists as they rounded the bend!”
The day included collages of royal facts, a hat parade, traditional party lunch and games.
Each child received a piece of the wedding cake and was presented with a commemorative mug at the end of the day.
Mrs Sellers said: “One child commented ‘this is the best day ever!’”
The school had further reason to celebrate after receiving a glowing report following an Anglican Schools Inspection.
Mrs Sellers added: “We were good with several outstanding features for our Ofsted and outstanding for our church school inspection. Everyone is delighted!”
