A RURAL business gained unanimous approval for new buildings at the third attempt.
Agents for Power Mowers on Whitchurch Road in Hatton Heath told Chester City Council planners that if the scheme was rejected the firm “may well have to close”, with the loss of six specialised jobs and up to three new jobs yet to be created.
The council rejected two previous applications to replace buildings.
Power Mowers said earlier that their premises were inadequate and also needed to be upgraded to comply with health and safety requirements.
After the refusals, Macclesfield- based Emery Planning Partnership put in plans for a single-storey commercial building with a showroom, offices and workshop.
Planning officers said the redevelopment was mainly single-storey with a two-storey workshop. Recommending approval, they said the development would now be similar in size to the existing buildings.
Residents of Hatton Heath said there was little local demand for a business of that size and were uncertain if anyone from the immediate area would be employed.
