POTHOLES will be fixed on roads in Malpas and Tilston as part of a £3m surfacing scheme.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has made extra funding available to repair roads that have deteriorated the most due to the harsh winter weather.

The work will be carried out next month, weather permitting, and will result in road closures at:

Stretton Hall Lane, Stretton, between Little Tilston Bridge and Grafton Farm, on March 8 and 9.

B5069 Chester Road, Malpas, between Hampton roundabout at the A41 and Post Office Lane, on March 26 and 27.

Wet Lane, Tilston, between Grange Lane and Ford Lane, from March 26-28.

Cllr Lynn Riley, executive member for community and environment, said: “ The extra funding is in direct response to what people are telling us and aims to fix recent winter potholes and prevent new ones by surfacing part or all of the roads contained in the list of works.

“Such an extensive programme of works will cause some inconvenience to residents, businesses and commuters.

“We would like to thank everyone in advance for their patience and the end result will, I am sure, be worth it.”

Road closures will be advertised on site – along with diversion routes – and access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible.

However, along rural roads this may not always be possible so those affected will be notified to explain arrangements.
