Motorists complained of traffic chaos on the A483 Posthouse Roundabout during Wednesday morning – two months after controversial multi-million pound improvement works were completed on the busy stretch of road.

Motorists were quick to praise the £6m revamp upon completion at the end of June, however there has now been growing frustration for commuters getting stuck in queues several miles long this morning.

Drivers took to social media to vent their frustrations over the delays at the height of the rush-hour.

Geraint Jones tweeted: “Looks like the honeymoon period is over for the #A483 Wxm to Chester - the pain has returned!! @highwaysagency”

Ali Owen later tweeted: “The queue is just past the bend on the #A483 Northbound people! Super job Highways Agency! @wrexham #passenger”

Meanwhile some drivers claimed that the recent improvements made by Highways England have made “no difference”.

Highways England have apologised several times for the snarl-ups that the project, which begun in September last year, has caused but have insisted that traffic flow through the Posthouse Roundabout junction would be quicker as a result of the revamp.

A spokesman for Highways England told the Chronicle that there were “no particular issues” at the Posthouse roundabout today which caused the delays.

He said: “We’re not aware of any particular issues at the Posthouse Roundabout this morning, so the increase in traffic is likely to be as a result of people returning to work after the summer break.”
