CHESTER’S city centre police station has returned to the town hall after building work completed.
Cheshire Constabulary’s Chester Inner Neighbourhood Policing Team had been forced to move to temporary offices on Northgate Street in October.
But work to install a lift in the town hall has now been finished and the team has returned to its original offices. The police helpdesk will now be open from Monday, August 23, at 9am. It will then be open from Monday to Friday from 9am-4.45pm.
Insp Ian Thorp said: “We aimed to make the temporary move as smooth as possible for residents in Chester. The number of police officers and PCSOs on the streets in the city centre was not affected and all office based staff worked out of Blacon Police Station.
“We would like to thank Chester and District Housing Trust for providing a home for the helpdesk during the move and for helping us to make that transition simple.
“We will now be based back in the town hall where we can work closely with Cheshire West and Chester Council CCTV operators and other staff to keep the city a safe and pleasant place to visit.
“The new helpdesk will be more easily accessible now the lift has been installed.”
