POLICE are appealing for information after a woman mysteriously woke covered in bruises after walking home alone.
Between midnight and 1.45am on Monday (February 18) a local woman was walking home near Plantation, off Prenton Place in Handbridge after socialising with friends.
But the next morning the woman, who is thought to be in her 50s, woke up in her bed covered in bruises with no memory of what had happened to her.
She was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital as a precaution.
On Tuesday officers from Cheshire police retraced and searched the route, which ran through the area of the Plantation, in Handbridge.
It is not yet clear how the woman recieved her injuries, and police say they have not ruled out the possibility she may have been physically or sexually assaulted.
Anyone who has any information or who may have seen the woman walking home is urged to call Cheshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
