THE Prime Minister Gordon Brown praised the regions innovation and community spirit on a whistle stop tour of the North West today (Thursday, November 5).

The Prime Minister toured the Aerospace plant in Boughton, held a meeting with the regions top business leaders and had time for tea, biscuits and a chat with a number of community workers on his tour of the region.

The PM started his day by meeting business leaders from across the area at EA Technology, in Capenhurst.

The focus of the discussion was the economy, local employment and how they were trying to create work for young people in the area. He then made a tour of the Energy Innovation Centre on site to have a look at the new greener technologies that were currently being developed.

The PM said after this visit: “There are lots of dynamic ideas and lots of great new companies, and we want to help these companies not only expand but create jobs for the future.”

Mr Brown along with MP Mike Hall then took time out to visit the home of Frodsham’s Deputy Mayor Brian Lloyd to have a cup of tea and speak to community workers, teachers and residents about the issues that effect them.

He said after this meeting: “A community is a thousand acts of kindness and what I was seeing here was how lots of really good people are coming together to make for a stronger community.”

The PM ended his visit to the region with a trip to Ditton Community Centre, in Widnes where he met residents and community leaders.
