ACTORS at St Mary's Catholic Primary School performed a nativity with a difference - a specially written play called The Perfect Gift.
The play - about the true meaning of Christmas - was performed on a split stage, with a grandmother explaining the story of the nativity to her grandchildren on one side and the nativity itself acted out on the other by pupils in cool costumes.
A spokeswoman for the Middlewich school: 'It went really well. It was a concoction of a few different things and it was great to put a slightly new spin on the traditional Christmas message.'
The whole school continues its theatrical theme tomorrow with a trip to Santa Claus - The Musical at the Liverpool Empire instead of the normal Christmas party.
The spokeswoman added: 'It is exciting as we have never taken a whole school group to the theatre before.'
