Overnight closures on the M56 have been announced for repairs at the Weaver Viaduct.
Bridge maintenance and road resurfacing will shut the motorway between J12 at Runcorn and J14 at Hapsford.
Each closure will stretch from 8pm through to 6am the following morning.
The planned dates are currently September 30 (Friday) and each day from October 3-5 (Monday to Wednesday).
Traffic is likely to be diverted along the A56 through Frodsham and Helsby while the roadworks, which includes the replacement of the viaduct’s joints, are being done.
The project is due to start on Monday, August 15, and is scheduled to last eight weeks.
A separate route will be in place for high-sided vehicles due to Frodsham bridge.
It is all being done at night to reduce disruption as much as possible.
Highways England added they may need to close the M56 on two occasions towards the end of September or early October for other ‘essential’ maintenance, with these dates yet to be confirmed.
The last closures of this part of the M56 came back in April as part of continued work on the Mersey Gateway project.
Drivers are being urged to allow extra time to complete journeys and to check travel conditions before setting off.
Highways England provides live traffic information via its website www.trafficengland.com , local and national radio travel bulletins and electronic road signs.
