Energetic staff from Tata Chemicals Europe in Northwich have raised more than £10,000 for charity by climbing three mountains in just 24 hours.

The 20-strong team conquered the summits of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in aid of St Luke’s Hospice in Winsford and Muscular Dystrophy UK – a cause close to Tate employee David Healey’s heart as his son Dillon was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2010.

Phil Davies, general manager for business services at Tata Chemicals Europe, said: “It was a fantastic effort from a very determined team.

“It is that same dogged determination that has seen the company emerge from a difficult few years.

“With a bright future now ahead of us, we want to give something back to our local communities, and fundraising and volunteering are a central part of what we are about.

“It’s very important to us that we are able to help invaluable local charities such as St Luke’s , and to support charities that have had a huge direct impact on people within our company, like Muscular Dystrophy UK.

“I’m very impressed by our climbers and would like to thank everyone who donated – the generosity we have seen is incredible.”

A spokesman for St Luke’s Hospice described the ‘huge’ amount they raised as ‘incredible’ and said they can’t thank the team enough.
