ATHLETES descended on Tattenhall on Sunday for the sun-kissed Bolesworth Mountain Bike Duathlon.
The sold-out event, hosted by City of Chester Triathlon Club and taking place in the grounds of the Bolesworth Estate, featured 90 competitors tackling the long course and a further 40 the shortened course designed for those less experienced at the running and cycling challenge that is a duathlon.
All the runners started back-to-back on a hillside, with the short course competitors going straight up and the long course competitors going down before climbing back up again.
From here all the runners ran over Raw Head and back down into Harthill to take in a scenic and challenging bike course through the Estate’s farmland.
But even then the challenge wasn’t over, with the runners having to complete the course again before finishing.
Tattenhall Runners ace Sarah Hammond was the first woman past the post and second overall in the short course race.
Carol Coole was the third-fastest female short course finisher while her Chester clubmate, Simon Greenwood, was fourth in the long course race.
Race sponsors Global Bike of Tattenhall provided the prizes.
