THE charismatic leader of the UK Independence Party Nigel Farage will speak at a dinner meeting of Chester Business Club later this month .
Mr Farage, a member of the European Parliament for South East England, will be a guest at a black tie dinner being held at the Mercure Abbots Well Hotel, Christleton, on Thursday, February 28.
Club secretary Bob Clough-Parker said: “With the next European Parliament elections just over a year away and with opinion polls indicating a surge of support for his party, Farage’s visit is timely, especially given the debate currently raging over EU membership.
“As a club, we are a non-party-political organisation but we take a close interest in political issues because almost every decision taken by a government has an implication on the business community.
“Our role is to provide an impartial platform for the debate and discussion of the important issues of the day, especially how they impact on businesses.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Nigel Farage and hearing what is bound to be a forthright take on the state of European and UK politics.”
Farage is a founding member of UKIP, having left the Tories in 1992 after the signing of the Maastricht Treaty. During the 2010 general election campaign he was a passenger in a light aircraft which crashed after the publicity banner it was towing got caught in the tail plane.
The event will begin with a drinks reception from 7.15pm followed by dinner at 7.45pm. Tickets are £35 each and can requested by ringing 01244 350235 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. uk.
