A NATURE park will have an eye catching new sculpture installed in a bid to lure nature lovers to its paths, ponds and plantlife.
Caldy Valley Nature Park in Great Boughton has received £50,000 in funding from environmental grant providers WREN and is in talks with a local sculptor to come up with the centrepiece installation.
Pam Atkinson, of the Friends of Caldy Valley Nature Park, said: “It’s easy to go past and not realise what there is there so we want something striking at the entrance so everyone says ‘wow!’.
“The Friends have put around £5,000 into the whole thing. We’re waiting with interest to see what the artist comes up with.”
The money is also being used to carry out a raft of improvement and repair work at the valley.
A new smaller pond will be dug alongside a widescale repair and maintenance programme.
Since the Friends of Caldy Valley was set up in 1991, they have – in conjunction with Chester City Council – helped build a pond, bridges and footpaths.
