COTEBROOK Shire Horse Centre has welcomed a new face – in the form of a polecat.

The Tarporley centre already has two female polecats and the new male member has been introduced as part of a national breeding programme.

Staff at the centre, located just off the A49, have been hard at work creating a new play area for the animals in order to encourage them to get to know each other better, at the same time as creating more opportunities for visitors to come and visit the creatures.

Polecats, native to Britain, are the ancestors of ferrets, and are part of the weasel family.
