POPULAR music students at the University of Chester had the opportunity to learn from the best as they took part in a series of workshops, seminars and performances led by world renowned musicians.
Popular Music Professionals Week featured a line-up of great British talent including Ian Matthews, the drummer from British rock band Kasabian, professional vocal coach Louise Ryan - who has nurtured young Welsh talent including Charlotte Church and Lucie Jones from X-Factor and Les Miserables - concert pianist Marie-Louise Taylor and guitarist John Wheatcroft.
Students took part in a programme of tutorials and workshops with the artists, and were able to put their influences and inspiration into practice through a series of performances during the week.
David Bebbington, programme leader for the popular music course, said: “Students gained a lot of very valuable information from the event.
“It was particularly interesting for our students to see a range of different styles of music represented during the week, which, after all exemplifies the popular music area they are studying.”
