Traffic was reported to be slow moving on the M56 near Chester this morning (Tuesday, February 24) following incidents both east and west-bound on the notorious section between Hapsford and the Runcorn turn-off.
North West Motorway Police tweeted that there had been a two-vehicle collision east-bound just after Chester Services at Hapsford at 8.12am. Lane three was believed to be blocked leading to congestion.
Then BBC Travel later reported a broken-down mobile crane on the same stretch but west-bound with one lane closed and ‘slow traffic’.
The Highways Agency was aware the crane had suffered a puncture and pulled on to the hard shoulder.
However, spokesman David Harris said the regional control room insisted there were no real issues for motorists.
