Drivers can expect delays this evening as the A540 Parkgate Road in Mollington has been closed while firefighters continue to battle a thatched roof fire.
Four fire crews and police are currently at the scene of the blaze, which was started in the thatched roof of a cottage.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus have so far managed to contain the blaze to the annexe of the property, to prevent it spreading to the main building.
A statement from Cheshire Fire and Resuce said they advised motorists to avoid the area, due to heavy smoke logging as a result of the incident and police are working to manage the flow of traffic.
Emergency services are likely to be on the scene for some time removing the thatch and ensuring the fire is fully extinguished.
