A BARBERSHOP chorus has welcomed its youngest ever member – 10-year-old Adam Dennett.

The Year 5 pupil from Farndon Primary School took part in the Clwyd Clippers’ Learn to Sing programme three months ago.

Now he has been selected to join the tenor section of the Mold choir, known for it’s four-part acapella harmony performances.

He’ll join the group to perform at the National Chorus Convention in Southport and the choir’s 25th anniversary concert at Clwyd Theatr Cymru.

Adam’s mum, Jeanette, said: “Adam was a little nervous at first and didn’t know what to expect, having had no previous experience in singing although he loves music, but he now likes mixing and singing with the adults and thinks it’s great fun.”

The choir is developing a youth outreach programme and chairman Richard Heaton hopes more young people will join. He said: “Adam is the first of what we hope will be several new, younger aged members joining the chorus to sing and enjoy the fun of making good music in four part harmony.”

Members of the public interested in watching the Clippers are welcome to rehearsals on Thursdays from 7.30-10pm.
