A contender for the crown of Miss Cheshire 2016 will test her courage by jumping out of a plane in aid of a children’s charity.

University of Oxford law student Hayley Milner, from Boughton, will take to the skies for her tandem skydive on July 22.

The 20-year-old’s challenge for Variety is the latest in a series of charity and voluntary endeavours she has undertaken, including a tandem skydive in aid of Save the Children when she was just 16 and teaching English at a summer school in China.

Hayley, who has a fundraising target of £400, is urging people to sponsor her because she says Variety is a ‘wonderful’ charity and ‘even £2 from many people can save lives’.

The former King’s School pupil is a finalist in this year’s Miss Cheshire contest and wants the public to understand the ‘true concept of beauty’.

“Miss Cheshire is a fantastic opportunity to spread healthy messages to both women and men of all ages about beauty,” explained Hayley.

“Society places far too much pressure on a stereotypical external idea of beauty and if one does not conform to this image then one’s self-confidence begins to diminish.

“I want to show people that inner beauty is a powerful thing and everyone is unique and externally beautiful in their own way.

“No-one is ‘too skinny’ or ‘too fat’, people are just ‘too judgmental’.
