The Mayor of Ellesmere Port, Cllr Peter Rooney, has officially opened the Animal Trust’s latest surgery in a plaque unveiling ceremony.
The guests included industry partners from across all providers and Jean Ostle and Rosie, the first patient at the surgery.
Officially open for business Monday to Friday 8.30am-6.30pm, Cllr Rooney said: “This is just what Ellesmere Port needs, a veterinary practice that will serve the people and their pets regardless of their income.”
Animal Trust is a provider of not for profit veterinary care and has opened a 7000 sq ft facility on Cedab Road, Ellesmere Port in an investment of more than half a million pounds.
Director general Dr Owen Monie, a veterinary surgeon from Chester, said “We are delighted to be opening our latest surgery in Ellesmere Port. Last year we provided over 60,000 free consultations to patients in the Greater Manchester area. The success of Animal Trust has meant we are now expanding and we identified the area around Ellesmere Port would benefit from an Animal Trust surgery.”
The new surgery at Ellesmere Port is equipped with multiple operating theatres, diagnostic imaging suites, dental suites as well as consultation and outpatient services. It is open to all pets regardless of owner income.
Animal Trust was established in 2012 with the aim of developing a veterinary service that is focused on patient care and not profits.
There are no shareholders in the business and any profits made are re-invested back for the benefit of the patients.
