A CHESTER mum-of-three is well on her way to achieving her £100,000 fundraising target for Christie's hospital after completing the London Marathon on the first anniversary of her husband’s death.
Shelly Newall, of Laws Gardens in Great Boughton ran the marathon with friend Mark Fryer in five hours and 16 minutes.
Originally Shelly planned to raise £40,000 for the Colorectal and Hepatobiliary Research Fund at the hospital, where Matty was treated. She smashed that target in November and now plans to raise £100,000.
So far Shelly has raised more than £66,000, with nearly £15,000 raised between her and Mark through the marathon. She now plans to run the Chester Half marathon on May 17. To sponsor her go to www.justgiving.com/michellenewall.
