PUPILS of Malpas Alport Endowed Primary School concluded their school term by dressing up as superheroes for the day.
And the fancy dress event capped off an unusual learning topic for the term – the theme of underpants.
Headteacher Sarah Worthington explained: “Our Foundation Stage theme of pants was an original idea coming from the pupils, who get to choose what topic they should learn throughout the term.
“Our school’s philosophy is to have fun in learning, so we arranged activities such as making a launderette in the classroom, visiting the launderette in the village, studying children’s pants such as nappies and finally making personalised pants by using computers to make designs.
“We finished the term with children coming to the school dressed as superheroes, because everyone knows superheroes wear their pants outside their clothes.
“We also had Wonder Woman coming in to teach them that day.
“The underpants topic was really good, and the topic was noted for praise in the school inspection report. It’s really thanks to the children for coming up with the idea.”
