Drivers faced delays on the M56 in Cheshire after a caravan crash.
A lane had to be eastbound after the accident near junction 11 at Preston Brook on Monday (August 22).
Congestion has now eased following the collision which saw the caravan smash into the central reservation once it had detached from its tow vehicle at about 11.30am.
North West Motorway Police said the crash had initially blocked the entire carriageway, but one lane was kept closed for more than two hours while the incident was cleared.
Highways England had warned motorists to expect delays, but have now tweeted to say the motorway is clear.
The congestion heading towards Manchester stretched back past J12 at Runcorn.
Heavy traffic saw drivers stuck waiting for more than 30 minutes last Friday due to severe congestion.
