A man is in hospital following a serious late night assault in Chester city centre.

At 2am on Sunday July 21 police were called to Frodsham Street at its junction with Foregate Street to reports of an assault and on arrival they found a man in his mid 30s with serious injuries.

He remains in hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

In order to assist with their ongoing enquiries, police cordoned off an area by the Second Cross which has now been removed.

Three males aged 35, 36, and 27, all from the Chester area, have been arrested and remain in police custody assisting officers with their investigation.
