An Upton teenager will represent Chester in the finals of Junior Miss North West competition in Blackpool.

Georgia Pendlebury, 16, will compete in a catwalk fashion show modelling sports wear, evening/prom wear and an eco outfit, with similar girls aged from 13-16, on February 28.

West Cheshire College student Georgia, who also works part-time at Boots, is doing various fundraising events as part of the competition to raise funds for children’s charity Variety.

The teenager held a sponsored karate kumite event at Total Fitness in Chester on Sunday, February 7, and has arranged a charity raffle. So far she has raised over half of her £500 target.

The former Upton-by-Chester High School student has enjoyed karate since the age of five and by the time she was nine years old, Georgia had gained her 1st Dan (black belt).

Georgia said after the karate event: “I would just like to say a massive thank you to my mum and dad for all the help they have been giving me on fundraising events and all their support.

“Also a massive thank you to Tokon Karate academy club, friends, family and the general public for all their help, support, belief and faith they all have in me.

“I really have been touched by all the lovely messages and support I have received from everyone including all the amazing girls from Junior Miss North West.”

Georgia’s mum Charlotte added: “Myself and Georgia’s dad are extremely proud of her and support her 100% every step of the way, it’s a amazing opportunity for her. And even more so she is extremely honoured and proud to be representing Chester.”

Georgia has set up a Facebook page for supporters to sponsor her and show their support.
