A CHESHIRE storyteller has been telling tales about the Sandstone Trail.
Johnny Gillett, aka The Journey Man, walked the 34 miles from Whitchurch to Frodsham telling stories of the spectacular countryside en route. Johnny told 15 different stories over his four- day trip including The Tale of the Ridgewyrm.
He explains: “I wrote the tale to explain how the Sandstone Ridge came about. It is about a dragon who settled here and people are now walking on its back.”
Johnny’s first stop was at Maiden Castle on Bickerton Hill where the fine summer’s evening afforded excellent views across the countryside.
His date at Beeston Castle on Friday evening was preceded by a day of rain but it brightened up just in time.
A crowd took advantage of Saturday’s fine weather to listen to Johnny at Kelsborrow Castle in Kelsall before his final stop at Woodhouse Hill in Frodsham
“I was accompanied for most of the journey by John Street, the Sandstone Trail ranger, who saw to it that I didn’t get lost!” said Johnny.
