Jay Hutton has revealed he has quit E4 show Tattoo Fixers.

The celebrity tattoo artist, who runs Adrenaline Tattoo Studio in Ellesmere Port, shot to fame on the hit programme, but tonight's episode will be his last.

He took to social media to share the news with his fans, writing: "Hi guys, just want to say a massive thank you to you all for your continued and loyal support throughout my time on Tattoo Fixers.

“I have decided it’s time for a change and wanted to let you know that tonight’s final episode of the season will also be my last on the show.

“I’d like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for the opportunity.

“I’ve had a great time and will be leaving with some amazing memories having made friends for life.

“I wish the show all the best for the future and will continue to support my fellow cast members. Thank you again. Big love, Jay x”

The Daily Post reports that Jay came to the attention of programme makers after racking up a list of celebrity customers at his Adrenaline Tattoo Studio which he opened at the age of 21.

His handiwork also went viral on Twitter after an impressive back piece featuring Floyd Mayweather received the plaudits of the world champion himself, who shared it with his 4,064,851 followers.

Jay was one on the original trio turning disaster pieces into masterpieces at a pop up parlour in Hackney.

The show – which started out as a pilot series – ended up smashing audience rating records.

On it he tattooed a poignant chest piece on a Royal Marine who’d had his leg blown off, which had left his Liverpool FC tribute missing a word and reading “You’ll Never Walk”.

He inked This is England star Thomas Turgoose’s behind live on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man show and tattooed one of the Alton Towers rollercoaster crash victims, Vicky Balch, who lost her leg when The Smiler ride malfunctioned.

He also tattooed Coronation Street superfan, Martyn Hett with a portrait of Deirdre Barlow.

The 29-year-old was later killed in the Manchester terror attack at the Ariana Grande concert last May.

Paying tribute at the time, Jay said: “Such sad news to hear about Martyn Hett who lost his life in the Manchester attack.

“I had the pleasure of tattooing Martyn who was a genuine, nice guy.

“Thoughts are with his family and all those who lost someone in Manchester.”

Jay featured on several TV programmes including panel show, Virtually Famous with Jimmy Carr.

He also went on to be a judge on E4’s Tattoo Artist of the Year which searched the country for to find the best tattooist.
