AFTER working as a hairdressing salon manager for 10 years, mum of two, Janette Jones, 45, took the plunge to become a qualified hairdresser and has just completed her NVQ Level Two in hairdressing.
Janette, from Neston, hopes one day to have her own hairdressing salon with daughters Lyndie, 27, and Laura, 21, who are both due to start their NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing this September.
Janette, who worked as salon manager for Andrew Collinge’s salon in Heswall, said: “Since leaving school I had always wanted to be a hairdresser. However, I ended up having children and becoming a full-time mum.
“Once my children were old enough for me to work, I started as a salon manager for Andrew Collinge. But after 10 years of working at the salon, I’d had enough of working for somebody else and thought if I don’t do it now, I’ll never do it.”
Janette, who works up to three days a week as a junior stylist at a salon in Willaston, is now going on to complete her NVQ Level three in hairdressing and then hopes to complete her teaching qualifications.
Janette said: “As well as running my own family salon with my daughters in the future, I hope to become a support tutor in hairdressing at the college.”
