A NINTH candidate for the hotly contested Weaver Vale seat has thrown his hat into the ring.
Will Charlton, 64, of Winsford, who resigned as a borough councillor for Leftwich and Kingsmead following the decision to create Cheshire West and Chester unitary authority, will stand as an Independent in the upcoming General Election.
“I used to be a Conservative,” said Will, who is a forester working on the development of policy and a landowner.
“I worked in the borough and was heavily involved in education.
“I was always for a single Cheshire council as I believed that education was, and continues to be, the priority service; and a single Cheshire could best show continued improvement in academic results.”
Will, a divorced father of two, added: “I want value for money from public services in Weaver Vale.
“With cuts due, and more than the parties are telling you, the value for money that we will receive from public services is that much more important.
“Our three main parties are often so busy squabbling that they can forget the real issues that count to local people.
“Having seen these issues at first hand – I can honestly say that it’s time for the political parties to be taken to task.
“As an independent I will fiercely protect our local community, not claim ridiculous expenses, and listen to the views of local people, whether they be about improving hospitals, campaigning against more incinerators in Cheshire, or protecting our way of life, such as heritage and the waterways.”
