MONITORING of Crewe and Nantwich's CCTV cameras is being increased.
The improved surveillance is expected to be introduced soon, according to the borough council portfolio holder for safer communities, retired assistant chief constable John Dwyer.
Cllr Dwyer, who represents Wybunbury, said reviews were already under way to expand the use of the CCTV network, which will include the control room being manned for more hours.
In September, it emerged the screens were not staffed round-the-clock to the dismay of Wistaston Green councillor Tom Dunlop.
He has started a petition for more coverage to enable operatives to alert police when trouble brewing.
Patrol officers can then track down yobs quicker.
Cllr Dwyer said: 'I have asked for the production of management information which will create the essential business case for this enhancement.
'We will be looking at the quality of the images, the area of coverage and the times during which the system will be
