A STEEL giant was given the royal seal of approval when a VIP guest paid a visit.

HRH Andrew the Duke of York visited the Corus Colors plant at Deeside Industrial Park yesterday (Wednesday) in his royal capacity as the UK Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.

The role involves visiting large-scale industrial businesses, such as Corus, to find out more about them.

The Duke of York was given a guided tour of the innovative facility, before giving a short speech to staff and unveiling a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.

Peter Strikwerda, managing director at Corus Colors, said: “It is a fantastic honour to all at Corus to have a member of the royal family visit. We were delighted to host the visit and thoroughly enjoyed meeting with the Duke of York.

“It meant a lot to us that HRH took time out of his busy schedule to visit us and find out more about our business.”

After his visit to Flintshire, Prince Andrew was given a whirlwind tour of Daresbury Science and Innovation campus in Halton, Cheshire.
