TV CELEBRITIES will be aiming to hit a fundraising goal with the annual Soapstar Football Challenge this weekend.

Stars from Hollyoaks, Coronation Street and Emmerdale will be lacing up their football boots and heading out on to the Deva Stadium pitch on Saturday, May 16 for the charity event.

The charity match, which kicks off at 1pm, is followed by the Hollyoaks Charity Ball that evening.

Hollyoaks stars lined up to take part in the match include organiser Nick Pickard, who plays Tony Hutchinson in the Chester-based soap and is team captain for the Hollyoaks squad, and Chris Fountain (Justin Burton), who has also appeared in Dancing on Ice.

Other celebrities due to take part in the All Star XI include Coronation Street’s Mike Le Vell (Kevin Webster) and Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs), Emmerdale’s James Hooten (Sam Dingle) and finally Elliot Tittenor (Carl Gallagher), of Shameless.

All proceeds from the day go to help the Imagine Appeal, which helps provide funds for Alder Hey Hospital, and Claire House Hospice.

Nick Pickard said: “The day and evening are set to be really great fun as well as a fantastic opportunity to raise plenty of money for two worthwhile charities.”

Tickets are all sold out for the Hollyoaks Charity Ball at Chester Racecourse, which begins at 7.30pm. Holloyaks cast members and Coronation Street’s Kym Ryder will be taking to the stage in a night of musical entertainment.

To book tickets for the charity match, priced £5, call 0845 241 7868 or visit www.instantticketseller.com/chesterfestivals. Tickets will also be available on the day from the stadium.
