Rubbish collection has not been going as well as the council hoped this week - because of high winds.

Gusts have whipped up waste spillages and bins which were not secured and blown them across the streets.

Cheshire West and Chester Council said this was affecting their service, but scheduled pick ups will still go ahead.

A noticed posted on the Cheshire West and Chester Council website advised to make sure wheelie bins, boxes and bin bags are closed before you put them out.

Keep a lid on it

A CWaC spokesman said: "Whilst every effort will be made to collect any spilt materials and return containers neatly once emptied, residents are advised to place out containers securely and collect them after emptying as soon as possible.

"It was added waste boxes must have a lid on when they are put out. If you do not have a lid they can be requested, for free, on the waste and recycling section of the website."

In addition, Ellesmere Port household waste recycling centre is temporarily closed due to high winds.
