THE Halton division of St John Ambulance is celebrating receiving a donation from the Halton Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise.
An impressive £1,500 was raised for the charity during the chamber's annual gala dinner, held last month.
St John Ambulance is the UK's leading first aid organ-isation and provides a range of charitable and business services nationally and locally.
It is also a leading voluntary organisation and has 45,000 volunteer members, who are committed to caring and saving lives.
Each year, St John volunteers in Runcorn and Widnes help people in many ways.
They administer first aid to people when they have had an accident or injury at public events, including the Howard Keel Golf Classic, football matches and events organised by Halton Borough Council.
Last year, they treated more than 300 people and delivered free first aid training to 150 schoolchildren.
Stephanie Littler, marketing and business development manager for St John Ambulance, said: 'Donations really help the volunteers in St John Ambulance continue to provide an invaluable first aid and care service for local people.
'We were delighted to receive £1,500 from Halton Chamber of Commerce members and this money will go towards buying essential medical equipment which will benefit local people'.
