BOYS from Blacon and across Chester have been enjoying a new and innovative gymnastics club.
The Advanced Gym Club, based at Blacon High Specialist Sports College, has been up and running since July.
Its members are coached to develop and extend their gymnastics skills in a safe and controlled environment by coach Ron Bell.
Nathan Sherwin, 15, a member of the club, said: “Ron is an excellent coach, he’s helped us develop our skills while still having lots of fun – we’re much better now.”
Joanna Carr, school sports coordinator at Blacon High, said: “Ron’s really engaged with the boys and they have responded well to his coaching. We’re really pleased at the school at how positive an effect this club is having on the boys’ behaviour.”
The club is one of many initiatives that the Chester Schools Sports Partnership will set up over the next three years to meet the Government’s target of young people taking part in five hours of physical activity per week.
